Got new power tools and organizers - What a great birthday! My wife, her folks, and her sisters got me these tools and organizers for my birthday. It appears as though LOWES has great clearance deals on tools around late August or early September. My wife said they were all on clearance with the exception of the band saw. This should complete my tool inventory with the exception of the metal working and riveting tools I am going to need along with some other misc stuff. Many thanks to the Infantino Family for being so generous!

Bought Some Good Rulers and a Straight Edge - We were waiting at a restaurant by a brand new Michael's Store and we stopped in to kill some time. I bought three flexible stainless rulers with cork backing (6", 18", & 24") and a 36" aluminum straight edge.

Ordered my C-Frame Dimpler - I ordered the DRDT-2 dimpler from ExperimentalAero today. I decided to exclude the C-Frame dimpler from my Avery Kit and go with the DRDT-2. It will cost me $170 more, but based on feedback from other builders this should be a good move. Let me make it clear my decision is based purely on tool design, not quality. Avery sells high quality tools.
10/4/04 Ordered my Tool Kit from Avery - I am in deep now! I ordered my 3X tool kit from Avery today and what a pleasant experience it was. It is nice to deal with people who have their stuff together. I had several deletions and additions to the kit and it was no problem at all. I e-mailed a spreadsheet on Sunday detailing what I wanted with the kit, and when I called today everything was ready to go. It took less than 3 minutes. I can't wait for the tools to get here!! More details to follow on what I bought.
10/7/04 My Tool Kit Arrived from Avery - Yeehaa!!! Go here to see what I got with the kit. The first thing my wife said was "That's it...you paid how much for that?". I am getting her up to speed on the quality over quantity thing :-).

Bought a Torque Wrench on E-bay - I bought a MAC Tools TW6250AA micrometer adjustable torque wrench off of E-bay and it looks almost new. A new one from MAC is $228.79 and I paid $119 with shipping. It is 3/8" drive and the torque range is 50-250 in-lbs. I will get it calibrated (~$35) and it should be good to go. I will post some pics when it gets here. This torque range will cover AN4 through AN6 bolts. I will buy a 5-50 in-lbs wrench for the AN3 bolts since they are so easy to over torque. I didn't want to torque the AN3's at the bottom end of the range of a bigger wrench. Here are a couple of good .pdf documents on torque wrenches, one from Snap-on and one from the FAA.
10/9/04 My DRDT-2 Dimpler Arrived - Whoop!!! Go here to see some pictures of it mounted to my future dimpling table. I knew that old dining room table would come in handy. Thanks Mom & Dad.

Assembled all of my bench top tools - I put together all of the bench top tools I got for my birthday. I also replaced the blade on my band saw with a 3/8" 18TPI metal cutting blade.

Got my torque wrench back from MAC Tools - I sent my torque wrench to MAC Tools to have it calibrated. The factory calibration (new) was done in May 2004, but I just wanted to have them re-calibrate it since I bought it used. By looking at it I would swear it has never been used.
